Fujairah city is a modern, industrial town and the main settlement of the east coast. The emirate is separated from the rest of the United Arab Emirates by the jagged line of the Hajar Mountains, and although the city itself is a grid pattern of high-rise office blocks with little to offer visitors, Fujairah Emirate's beaches to the north are some of the nicest in the UAE.
